The LFP Disciplinary Commission has just sanctioned ASSE and its supporters. Indeed, the Paret and Snella stands will be closed for the match on the 16th day of Ligue 1 against Reims at the beginning of January, but not only that.
As a reminder, during the meeting between AS Saint-Étienne and Olympique de Marseille on the 13th day of the championship, more than 400 pyrotechnic devices were identified by the match delegate. Furthermore, in the 88th minute of the match, a massive burst of smoke bombs in Kop Nord for the 25th anniversary of the Avant-Garde caused the match to be interrupted for many minutes, due to lack of visibility on the pitch. In the stands, the situation made some smile, and chants rained down: “We don’t see anything anymore” followed by a “There’s nothing to see” in reference to the insignificant performance of the Greens against OM. The match will finally end without further interruption.
Under a suspended sentence before this meeting of the LFP Disciplinary Commission, Geoffroy-Guichard’s two Kops could fear the worst. ASSE receives two match suspensions for the Paret and Snella stands. The matches against Reims (J16) and Nantes (J18) will therefore be held without the Kop Nord and the Kop Sud. The return to the stadium for the residents of the two stands will take place at the beginning of February for the reception of Rennes (D21).
