Rickard Rakell skillfully deflected a shot from the point in overtime to deceive Darcy Kuemper and give the Penguins a 3-2 victory against the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday in Pittsburgh.

Rakell scored his 14e goal of the season by redirecting a shot from Erik Karlsson at 1:44 of the overtime period.

Matt Grzelcyk allowed the Penguins to tie the game in the third period with his first goal of the campaign. Evgeni Malkin also hit the target. Rakell and Michael Bunting finished the game with two points, while Alex Nedeljkovic made 29 saves.

Adrian Kempe and Alex Turcotte gave the Kings fleeting one-goal leads. Kuemper blocked 28 shots.

Nick Paul had a goal and two assists to guide the Tampa Bay Lightning to a 5-3 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Paul had a hand in three of his team’s first four goals to tie his NHL career high.

Jake Guentzel, Mitchell Chaffee, Luke Glendening and Brayden Point, in an empty net, also hit the target for the Lightning, who signed a third consecutive victory.

Andrei Vasilevskiy turned away 28 of 31 pucks aimed at him for a second straight win.

Mikael Pyyhtia, Adam Fantilli and Cole Sillinger responded for the Blue Jackets, who scored three straight goals to cut the deficit to 4-3, but Point came to close the books.

In his third start in four games, Jet Greaves allowed four goals in 31 shots for the Columbus team.
