With a total of 11 finalists out of 45 possible, Morocco is well ahead of the nominations. The Kingdom therefore has a good chance of seeing its representatives win a number of awards. National women’s football is best represented at this edition of the CAF Awards. Thus, AS FAR striker Sanaa Mssoudy appears in the list of finalists for the title of best player of the year alongside Barbra Banda (Zambia, Orlando Pride) and Chiamaka Nnadozie (Nigeria, Paris FC). In the category of best goalkeeper of the year, we find Mssoudy’s teammate at AS FAR and in the national team, Khadija Er-Rmichi, who is also in the running against Chiamaka Nnadozie (Nigeria, Paris FC) and Andile Dlamini (South Africa, Mamelodi Sundowns).
Young hope of national women’s football, Doha El Madani is present in the final list of the category of young African players of the year. Winner of the African Women’s Champions League with TP Mazembe, Lamia Boumehdi could well win the trophy for best coach of the year. She is in competition with her compatriot and AS FAR coach, Mohamed Amine Alioua. The FAR team is present in the list of women’s clubs of the year with Edo Queens (Nigeria) and TP Mazembe (DR Congo). For its part, the women’s national team competes with South Africa and Nigeria for the title of best national team of the year.
