The recent rapprochement between Rabat and has reignited tensions with neighboring Algeria. According to consistent information, Algeria summoned the French ambassador to Algiers, sending him a “severe warning” concerning alleged “hostile projects” attributed to French intelligence services.

Citing “reliable diplomatic sources”, the Algerian newspaper El-Moudjahid, close to the government, claims that this summons was triggered by revelations according to which the French secret services had recruited former terrorists in Algeria to destabilize the country. The warning expressed the “deep indignation” of Algeria facing what it describes as « provocations continues » of , writes the publication.

She reports in this regard that the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the French ambassador, Stéphane Romatet, and sent him a “severe warning” regarding these alleged « plans hostiles » orchestrated by the French intelligence services.

The El-Moudjahid article specifies that this summons, which took place last week at the MAE headquarters in Algiers, is a direct response to allegations according to which the French intelligence services have mobilized former terrorists for activities aimed at to undermine the stability of Algeria. The ambassador would have been informed of “the deep condemnation by the Algerian authorities of the repeated provocations and hostile actions targeting Algeria by France”.

The warning was issued “in the strongest terms”with Algerian officials claiming that “such actions cannot remain without consequences”, continues El-Moudjahid, who emphasizes that the diplomat was formally informed that Algeria “will not stand idly by” faced with what she perceives as “continued attacks against its sovereignty”.
