At RSC Anderlecht, there is a lot of talent running around Neerpede. But the people of Brussels cannot let everyone break through either. Some choose another path. This is the case of Simion Michez.
Michez left Anderlecht
The corridor player defended the colors of Anderlecht for years. He failed to break through. He opted for a transfer to Beerschot. This is what he explains in The Last Hour.
“After a season in Challenger Pro League, I felt ready to move to the A team. But I understand that it is not possible. But I know it’s not easy to break into Anderlecht. From a personal point of view, I wanted to be officially included in the A team, but the management saw things differently,” Michez said.
Du Beerschot au Slavia Prague
They nevertheless offered him a new three-year contract, even if he would have had to play an extra year in the Challenger Pro League. What he also did at Beerschot. So why did he choose to leave?
“I had to learn to play under pressure. Beerschot wanted to play for the title. I wanted to live this experience. We became champions and I started. Bigger teams started showing interest in me and I made the right choice,” he recalls.
“Several foreign teams gauged my interest and even made me an offer. In Belgium, Union SG and Ghent were options, but they did not insist on paying the amount that Slavia Prague put on the table. They paid 3 million euros.”
