Thursday, the Tarn Sports Trophies evening highlighted the department’s athletes who shone during the year 2024.

To close the chapter on an exceptional year 2024, we had to mark the occasion. It was also a world beatbox champion, Jules Gall, who opened the now traditional evening of the Tarn Sports Trophies, Thursday evening, organized by the Department at the Maison de la musique de Cap’Découverte.

For this 9e edition, the departmental council pulled out all the stops, in particular to salute the two Olympic titles won by Benjamin Thomas (track cycling, omnium) and Antoine Zeghdar ( sevens). “We hope to keep this Olympic momentum alive,” said the president of the departmental council Christophe Ramond. “Our goal has always been to bring sport into the lives of the Tarnais. And it works, particularly with the Olympic village that we organize in the summer.”

Responding to the challenge of welcoming new licensees

This evening, sponsored by newly retired Lilian Calmejane, highlighted the various exploits, collective or individual, which have punctuated the sporting life of Tarn, whether on a national or international scale. Without forgetting those who enable these performances to be achieved: the volunteers. “Several volunteers from 2024 took the stage, our ex-Olympians too. It’s always a pleasure to see all these components of sport come together,” appreciated Isabelle Espinosa, vice-president of the Department in charge of sports.

The challenge will be, for 2025, to do as well as in 2024. Obviously not easy. But the challenge will above all be to support the development of sporting practice. “With the Olympics, we are faced with a massive influx of licensees,” confides Jean-Philippe Mialhe, president of the departmental Olympic and sports committee. “We will have to show ourselves capable of welcoming them, while working for other practices such as health sports. or disabled sports.”
