African Cup of Women’s Champion Clubs: Joan of Arc concedes its first defeat against Ferroviario (30-64)

Joan of Arc concedes her first defeat in the African Cup of Women’s Champion Clubs. Mbarka Diop and her partners were beaten by Ferroviario (30-64) yesterday, Monday December 9, 2024, on the sidelines of the second day at the Marius Ndiaye stadium.

Joan of Arc, after her opening victory last Saturday against Makomeno, only needed one victory to officially qualify for the next round. However, the elderly lady failed to achieve this success as she was beaten in a match where the Mozambican team was superior, as evidenced by their advantage at the break (18-36). Coming out of the locker room, the same scenario repeated itself: the Mozambicans maintained their unchallenged domination against a weakened JA team which showed its limits and finally lost with 34 points behind. On Wednesday, the Anthioumane Ly girls will play their last group match against Rwanda Energy Group (REG), who also won their first victory yesterday, Monday December 9, 2024 against Makomeno. This match will be crucial between these two teams looking to qualify for the quarters.
