The FIA F2 season ended on the Abu Dhabi circuit, with the coronation of Gabriel Bortoleto among the drivers and the Invicta team in the team standings.
The 2024 FIA F2 season took place over fourteen race weekends. From Bahrain to Abu Dhabi, via Jeddah, Melbourne, Imola, Monaco, Barcelona, the Red Bull Ring, Silverstone, Budapest, Spa-Francorchamps, Monza, Baku and Qatar.
Gabriel Bortoleto makes history
Future Sauber F1 driver Gabriel Bortoleto won the drivers' title. The Brazilian driver fought for the crown until the last, fighting a duel with Isack Hadjar. With this success, the Invicta driver enters FIA F2 history as he is the fourth driver to win the title in his first season, just after winning the FIA F3 title, just like Charles Leclerc, George Russell and Oscar Piastri. We also find Nico Rosberg, Lewis Hamilton and Nico Hülkenberg in the club of champion drivers from their first season.
Isack Hadjar ranks second in the championship, just ahead of new Alpine reserve driver Paul Aron. Zane Maloney and Jak Crawford complete the top 5. Victor Martins, winner in Catalonia, finishes in 7th place.
First title for Invicta
For the first time in its history, the Invicta team won the FIA F2 title. The British outfit beat the Campos team, made up of the two drivers supported by the Red Bull Junior Team Isack Hadjar and Pepe Marti. MP Motorsport completes the final podium.
For the first time in FIA F2 history, all teams achieved at least one victory. The most successful are the Campos and Prema teams, with five successes each. With three victories, we find Invicta, ART Grand Prix and AIX Racing. MP Motorsport, Rodin and Trident follow with two victories while Hitech Grand Prix, DAMS and Van Amersfoort have one victory.
