Watching the Canadiens’ games recently, something struck me.
Emil Heineman is really effective on the ice.
He is capable of highlighting his qualities and even if he plays a supporting role in the formation of the Habs, he is important.
When a guy hits, uses his body to create things on the forecheck and is able to put pressure on with his skating, he becomes useful for an NHL team.
Emil Heineman does all that… And what’s more, he can find the back of the net because he has a quality shot.
At the time of writing, the 23-year-old is ranked 4th for most goals (6) scored by a rookie since the start of the season.
Heineman is on a 19-goal pace this season, which is far from bad:
Clearly, we see why he was chosen in the 2nd round by the Panthers in the 2020 draft.
We knew he had interesting potential when we saw him score seven goals in eleven games upon his arrival in Laval, but we are still talking about a nice surprise this season for the Canadian.
That said, Heineman deserves – in my opinion – to have a chance on the team’s top-6 if some (Newhook, like) continue to disappoint.
Heineman was the least used player by Martin St-Louis yesterday against the Capitals, as was the case against the Islanders and the Preds earlier this week:
Is it Emil Heineman who will save the Canadian’s season by being placed in the top-6?
No one said that.
On the other hand, if the Canadian goes there on merit… Heineman should play even more. He has interesting assets for a player of his size (especially his shooting) and even if he does not have much experience, we have seen that he can help the club.
The Canadian must take advantage of the quality of his throw:
In closing…
Note that still among rookies, Lane Hutson is 2nd among the best scorers at the moment (18 assists).
Matvei Michkov (24 points) is alone on his island at the top of the list…
In burst
– Bon…
– Things are going well for the Lions.
– The defender celebrates his 35th birthday.
– Where will he sign, Soto?
