From 2025, the Tangier Regional Investment Center (CRI) will issue exceptional authorizations to facilitate the construction of hotels and tourist residences. The objective is clear: to increase the number of beds available for supporters and visitors expected during the event.
This boost is eagerly awaited by tourism professionals. The sector, impacted by the economic slowdown and delays in the approval of the city’s development plan, needs a new lease of life. The suspension of numerous real estate projects also contributed to weakening the sector and led to the departure of certain investors.

Tangier, which is due to host matches and festivities for the 2030 World Cup, is banking on its geographical position and its tourist attractiveness to bounce back. The new reforms concerning CRIs, which aim to simplify administrative procedures, should also encourage investors, at least we hope.
Despite these initiatives, the situation on the ground remains mixed. Many construction sites, particularly in the Moghogha area, are at a standstill. A review of the development plan is underway to adapt the city to the requirements of international tourism.
