Lando Norris returned to the track on Tuesday for another 85 laps of the Abu Dhabi circuit, where he won the race this weekend and where McLaren F1 took the constructors’ title.
He enjoyed this last drive of the year, after sharing his car with Oscar Piastri: “I enjoyed being back on track this morning to help Pirelli develop next year’s tires.”
“It’s always a useful session and it’s great to work closely with them. Now it’s time to relax after such an incredible end to the season. The team deserves a well-deserved rest before starting the year again next.”
Piastri also appreciated being able to start work in 2025 jointly with the tire manufacturer: “It was nice to take to the track one last time this year. It was good to work with Pirelli, getting valuable data for them on next year’s tires.”
“Thanks again to the team for everything they did this year and what they were able to do to help us win the championship. Now, a little rest before a busy 2025.”
Patricio O’Ward, IndyCar driver for Arrow McLaren, had a full day in the car to round out the season as a young driver: “It was great to be back in a Formula 1 car. I loved every second on the track – it’s always a great day when you get the chance to drive one.”
“I learned a lot from this race day. Gaining more experience on the track is always positive and we covered a variety of things, doing long and short qualifying type runs, as well as practice starts .”
“It’s really great to be part of the McLaren Formula 1 team in addition to my role at Arrow McLaren, so I would like to thank Zak, Andrea and the whole team for the confidence they have shown in me. I can’t wait to see what everyone can achieve in 2025.”
