Present in London for the UTS final, Frenchman Gaël Monfils spoke about the retirement of his illustrious rival Rafael Nadal

On the sidelines of the UTS final, the Frenchman Gaël Monfils gave an interview to Majors in which he talks about his season but especially the retirement of the Spaniard Rafael Nadal. He who rubbed shoulders with the manacor bull for many years knows to what extent Nadal has marked the history of his sport.

“It’s a new legend leaving. These are always special moments because Rafael has left such a mark on our sport, really. He was more than an ambassador for our sport, it goes beyond tennis. “He’s one of the greatest athletes of all time who is leaving his sport, so it’s a page that is turning and which inevitably makes you a little nostalgic.”

Nadal in the Monfils team?

Asked about a possible agreement with Rafael Nadal like Novak Djokovic with Andy Murray, Monfils knows it is unlikely: “I don’t think he would! He might not want to go with me.”
