After qualifying for the Coupe de in Chamberya new trip awaits the DFCO, Friday December 6, 2024. The Dijonnais will challenge Villefranche-Beaujolais, at the Stade Armand-Chouffet, for the 14th day of National, kick-off 7:30 p.m. The “Reds”, third in the ranking, are riding a fine series of six consecutive victories in all competitions (three in the league, three in the Coupe de France). Opposite, the “Caladois Tigers” are penultimate.

Zoran Moco hit in the back

Absent for several weeks, Ben-Chayeel Hamada, Victor Poisson and Souleymane Cissé are still in the infirmary, even if the latter “is getting very close” to a return, in the words of Baptiste Ridira, at a press conference before -match.

Another absence to deplore: the DFCO loses Zoran Moco to injury, he will be absent for this trip to Beaujolais. “A little back pain on Wednesday after the session, he took a hit at the start of the week”informs his coach, who does not want to attribute this pain to the Guadeloupean’s recent trips to the national team.

The DFCO wants to “assume” its third place

Thanks to its good series, the DFCO got on the podium, third in the championship when it moved to Villefranche-sur-Saône. “We have to show that this third place is legitimate, claims Baptiste Ridira. If we want to have different ambitions, we have to finish the year very well, that goes for Villefranche and for the two other matches that await us behind.”.

The coach asked his players to “assume” this third place. “To simply assume a good start to the season, even if it is not time to take stock, we must be clear about our possibilities and not waste, specifies the “Reds” technician. To be at the maximum of our possibilities until the truce.”

A revenge after last season’s “despicable” and “infamous” performance

This Stade Armand-Chouffet in Villefranche-sur-Saône will revive a very unpleasant memory among DFCO supporters. Last season, in February 2024, Dijon lost 4-0 to the Caladois, for a hell of a trip to Beaujolais. A pitiful performance, with commitment close to nothing. “I am ashamed of the production of my team, we were ignoble, infamous”, lamented the then coach, Benoît Tavenot.

Villefranche, only one victory in twelve matches

The DFCO will travel to a team in difficulty. Villefranche, penultimate in the standings, has won only once this season in twelve championship matches (one victory, seven draws, four defeats). A 2-1 victory at home against FC on October 18.

“A team in difficulty in the standings, but with certain players that I like, really interesting profiles, a good diversity of profiles, describes Baptiste Ridira. It’s not easy to handle, it’s not a team that has given up anything.”

Last season, the “Tigres Caladois” finished 13th, and therefore had to be relegated. They owe their place in N1 this season to a draft “thanks” to administrative demotion of Niortwhich freed up a spot in the division.
