Linda Caicedo is one of the most explosive talents in women’s football in recent years. Her seductive game, full of imbalance and individual technique, makes her a football star and one of the contenders for the 2024 FIFPRO Women’s World 11.
The Colombian striker makes part of the 26 finalists of the ideal XI, whose name was revealed on Monday December 2. In total, eight attackers have been nominated, of which at least three (see final explanation) will be chosen by the votes of their fellow players.
The other nominees in their category are: the Spaniards Athenea and Salma Paralluelo, the English Lauren James and Alessia Russo, the Brazilian Marta, the Zambian Barbra Banda and the Malawian Tabitha Chawinga.
The 2023-2024 season
Caicedo excelled on the left side of Real Madrid Femenino’s attack during Liga F, in which the Whites finished a creditable runner-up to FC Barcelona Femení, the best team in Europe.
Linda scored 5 goals, provided 4 assists and completed 46 dribbles in the tournament. She also scored 2 goals in the Copa de la Reina, where the club reached the quarter-finals.
At the national team level, the striker played a major role in the success of the Colombian Women’s Olympic Tournament in Paris 2024. The Cafeteras reached the quarter-finals and lost on penalties to Spain, reigning world champion.
