This is an unexpected appointment to Chris Coleman’s staff that OHL announced this week. Tibor Balog, former coach of Sporting Charleroi, becomes the Welshman’s T3.
Tibor Balog (58 years old) is back in the Pro League! The Hungarian was announced as second assistant (T3) to Chris Coleman, the new coach of Oud-Heverlee Leuven. T2 will be the Greek Giorgios Korakakis, the Leuven club also revealed.
Balog will also have a link function between the young people of the academy and the A team, specifies the OHL press release. A big first for him, who had been free since November 2021 and the end of his lease in Tubize.
Tibor Balog began his coaching career as assistant to his compatriot Csaba Laszlo at Charleroi in 2009; he then remained assistant under Stéphane Demol, Tommy Craig, Jacky Mathijssen, Jos Daerden, Luka Peruzovic and Zoltan Kovac.
In 2011, he became coach of Sporting Charleroi in the Proximus League. A long career followed with various Hennuyer and Walloon clubs: La Louvière, Olympic Charleroi, Wavre and Stade Brainois.
