Meeting between Olivier Renard and Anderlecht supporters: the Mauves sporting director made promises… it won’t be like with Jesper Fredberg – All football

Olivier Renard had a meeting this Tuesday evening with Wouter Vandenhaute and the fans of RSC Anderlecht. The new sporting director of the Mauves was questioned on a series of subjects, and made a good impression.

It was a very long meeting this Tuesday evening, because the Anderlecht fans had prepared their questions well. They had a lot, but Olivier Renard didn’t have an answer to everything. Questions about transfers and the budget were avoided. But regarding everything else, it was possible to discuss openly with the new sports director.

Renard honestly shared his vision on how he wants to lead Anderlecht. And it was appreciated. Immediately after his appointment, there were some protests due to his past at Standard, but these quickly died down when the rest of the stadium indicated that he did not agree with these banners. The fans also want calm in the club and no longer want to create controversy.

Bet big on scouting

This means Renard has time. A small portion of the public still disagrees with his nomination, but there is no further action planned against him. The team is performing better and the supporters do not want to interrupt this positive dynamic.

Renard has committed to using scouting extensively for his transfer periods. Unlike his predecessor, Jesper Fredberg, who used his own (limited) network to find players. Renard wants to take advantage of the relationships available in Neerpede.

Futures are becoming very important

Furthermore, he also highlighted that Futures will become very important. Under the management of the Danes, the reserve team was treated a little carelessly due to the problems of the first team. As has already been reported several times, Anderlecht fears that RSCA Futures could be relegated. And having a reserve team in D1B is very important to attract young talent, especially when Genk and Club Brugge also have one.

Calm has already returned, as the Futures have not lost once in the last six games and have moved out of the relegation zone. All positive points for Renard, who must now deliver to keep the fans on his side.

President Wouter Vandenhaute was also questioned, but each time he highlighted everything that had already gone well in Anderlecht. And everything is fine now. However, fans felt he was a bit evasive in his answers…

@Johan Walckiers.
