It is against a team from the elite of the Women’s League, Landerneau, that Feytiat Basket 87, LF2, will play its 8th final of the Coupe de France this Tuesday, December 3, 2024. A challenge that makes you want to grow even more.

A Women’s League, the Roger-Couderc gymnasium in Feytiat (87) has already seen one, and of another ilk: Tarbes, one of the biggest names in French women’s basketball. It was in 2022, already in the Coupe de France, in the 16th round, and the Feytiacoises then lost by 20 points (53-73).
For this second, if the one-night visitors do not have the brilliance of the previous ones, Roger-Couderc will nonetheless tremble for his protégés, as Landerneau is not to be taken lightly.
Certainly, the Bretonnes only occupy 9th place in the elite, but it is still well above Feytiat who is only in the second division.
“It’s a big team, it’s going to be very difficult”warns Stéphane Serve, the president of Haut-Viennoises, before conceding that “yes, we have a small chance…”
Especially since his team is having a very good season. Second after seven days, with five victories and two defeats, including one against leader Toulouse.
“There, it’s true that we’re having another great season, like two years ago,” recognizes Stéphane Serve. Like in 2022-2023 where, just promoted, Feytiat finished in third place. Quite a learning experience. The confirmation was more painful, since last season, the team had only avoided relegation by one point, acquired on the penultimate day!
But despite this fear, Stéphane Serve is looking upwards.
“I hope that one day, we will be able to reach the Holy Grail, at the highest French level. This is what we fight for every day. But it has to be worked on, we must not skip the steps. There , we have been in Women’s League 2 for three seasons, last season we were labeled a “training center”, which is a necessary step for moving up. Afterwards, finances must also follow behind. Today we have one of the most small budgets of LF2, €600,000, and a player with us earns between the minimum wage and €2,500. We are missing partners, patrons. We are ready to invite them to discover women’s basketball, on which there are, sometimes, preconceptions But when we come to Couderc for the first time, we are rather surprised!
This is why the most important match of the week is not the one against Landerneau, but the trip to Le Havre on December 7, 2024.
But the Devils will do everything to beat Landerneau, and continue their journey in the Coupe de France. Dreaming of higher things later does not prevent you from dreaming right away. And it starts at 8 p.m., at the Roger-Couderc gymnasium in Feytiat, this Tuesday, December 3.
