The highest administrative court, referred to by the National Association of Supporters (ANS), indicates that “the applicant association is justified in maintaining that the ban on people claiming to be supporters of FC Nantes or behaving as such laid down by the contested decree of the Minister of the Interior causes serious and manifestly disproportionate harm to the fundamental freedoms of these people.

After regretting that PSG had already “sold all the seats in the visitors area to supporters of the capital club” et “recommended to its supporters not to go to the Park”, FC Nantes finally announced at the start of the evening that it had reached an agreement with the Parisian club “to unlock a space for its supporters”.

“For supporters who wish to attend the match (…), the visitors’ desk will be reserved for them”continued the Nantes club in a press release.

The Minister of the Interior Bruno Retailleau had issued the travel ban order in view of the announced presence of “more than 1,000 Nantes supporters including 250 ultras, members of the Brigade”. He had argued that, “under these conditions, and taking into account the presence of these groups of high-risk supporters, due to their violent behavior at home or on the move (…), there is a proven risk of serious disturbances to public order both before and after the meeting”. In another note also consulted by AFP, the authorities had judged “possible” “tensions and even violence due to a historic dispute between supporters of the two teams”.

This decision came a week after incidents during the L1 Nantes- match, Sunday at La Beaujoire. The match was interrupted when Nantes supporters tried to invade the pitch, furious to see their team trailing 2-0. Supporters from the Loire stand had thrown projectiles and broken a first security perimeter by entering the field, provoking the intervention of CRS and security agents.

A procedure to dissolve the Loire Brigade, a group of ultra supporters of FC Nantes, has been under study since these incidents, we learned on Tuesday from the Ministry of the Interior.
