GSHC needed penalties in the National League to beat Rapperswil 4-3. In Geneva at the moment, we are counting the days until Teemu Hartikainen returns and we are letting Markus Granlund and Manninen work. The two Finns are in a way the all-risk insurance of the GSHC. Scorer and passer like Manninen or simply passer like Granlund, the two Nordics make their teammates better like Praplan last Wednesday and Marc-Antoine Pouliot this time.

Henauer’s 3-2 in the 54th could have hurt, but Tim Berni, already a scorer on Wednesday evening, did it again 45 seconds after the former Bernese’s success. The game went to overtime then to penalties. And in this game, it was the Eagles who were the most effective. One man stood out during this session: Oula Palve. The Finn, on loan from Ajoie, took two classy penalties and Robert Mayer was able to save Jensen in his second pass. This success, the third in a row, allows the GSHC to remain positive, even if the current 10th place with 31 points is not the club’s objective.

Resumption of Friborg

Friborg recovered well after three defeats in a row. The Dragons dominated Zug 4-1. And Friborg gives up its 13th place to Lugano. A not so obvious observation since Pat Emond’s players faced Zug, a never easy opponent. Especially when the Zougois come out of a 4-0 loss against Zurich. And even more so when we have to do without our top scorer Marcus Sörensen.

Forced to reshuffle his trios, Pat Emond was on the other hand able to count on Lucas Wallmark who knew how to put on his leader’s costume. The Dragons made the difference during the middle third. First of all in 21st in power-play thanks to Linden Vey. We won’t dare talk about “ré-Vey”, but seeing the Canadian take his responsibilities should not annoy the Friborg board. And then in the 32nd on an error from the young goalkeeper Santo Simmchen, unable to block a floating throw from Wallmark and offering a rebound on which De la Rose threw himself.

Bengtsson’s reduction in the score did not panic the Dragons who were able to score the decisive 3-1 by Marchon, before Schmid closed the score in the empty cage.

Magnificent joy of self-sacrifice

A double from Arno Nussbaumer and a 5-4 victory for the Jura against the Ticino, this is the rough summary of this game. In Porrentruy, we certainly thought the matter was closed when Calvin Thürkauf scored 0-3 in the 35th in a double numerical superiority. This was without counting on an incredible comeback from the Jura in… less than four minutes.

A comeback initiated by Jerry Turkulainen, the HCA playing master, who reduced the score to the 36th. Then Lugano committed two irregularities and it was Ajoie who benefited from a double numerical advantage, and who took the opportunity to deceive Schlegel twice by Devos and Bellemare, each time on caviars from Turkulainen.

The Jurassiens had to come back to score once again, at 4-4, before finally winning in overtime. The name of the hero? Arno Nussbaumer. A nice story.

Biel bows

Flamboyant against Lausanne on Tuesday with six goals scored, the Biel residents came back down to earth against Bern (0-1). Despite the support of their public, Martin Filander’s players did not succeed in deceiving the vigilance of Philip Wüthrich. There weren’t many big chances in a fairly close match. The Bears finally won by the smallest of margins thanks to a goal from Merelä in the 49th.

In the other two matches of the evening, Zurich got the better of Kloten 3-1 in the Zurich derby, while Langnau dismissed Ambri 4-1.
