Morocco lets go of RS Berkane

Algeria – The National Refereeing Directorate in Morocco recently confirmed an error which marked the last match of RS Berkane. A penalty, wrongly awarded to the team, sparked strong reactions among supporters and observers. According to the body responsible for supervising the arbitration, the Berkane striker simulated during the action which led to this controversial decision. This official recognition calls into question the regularity of refereeing decisions in matches involving the club.

This incident is not isolated. This is in fact the second consecutive match where RS Berkane benefits from blatant errors in its favor. During the previous meeting, a controversial decision had already caused heated debates, with some accusing the referees of favoring the club. These repetitions of errors raise questions about the impartiality of refereeing and highlight shortcomings in match management, despite the progressive use of technologies such as VAR.

For supporters of opposing teams, these incidents fuel a feeling of injustice and harm the image of the competition. Many are calling for severe disciplinary measures to discourage simulations and strengthen the credibility of the refereeing body. For its part, the National Refereeing Directorate has promised to strengthen training for referees and to adopt zero tolerance towards unsporting behavior.
