Zakaria El Ouahdi, a bit undecided? The Genk player expressed his satisfaction with the interest shown by the Belgian selection in him, although he has already played for the Moroccan senior and Olympic teams.
In an interview with Belgian network DAZN, Zakaria El Ouahdi admitted that the attention from the Belgian national team was flattering, given that he has dual Moroccan and Belgian nationality, but clarified that he did not still made a decision.
“It’s nice to hear about a possible appeal from Belgium. The choice is up to me. I participated in the African Under-23 Cup of Nations and the Olympic Games with Morocco. It won’t be easy to decide.”he declared, thus opening the door to an arrival with the Red Devils.
“If I am summoned, it will be a real dilemma. But for now, I’m not thinking about it. The next international break is in March, and I am focusing on my career with Genk. However, I am not completely closing the door”he added.
As a reminder, El Ouahdi won the U23 Africa Cup of Nations with the Moroccan selection and won the bronze medal at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
