It’s crazy how time changes things.
This summer, the Canadian traded Johnathan Kovacevic because there was some congestion on the blue line.
The defender finds himself today with the Devils… And he is exactly what the Canadian needs right now.
After all, Kovacevic currently finds himself on one of the best duos in the National League.
The pair he forms with Jonas Siegenthaler – as of yesterday – was the one that allowed the fewest anticipated goals per 60 minutes since the start of the season.
And that is far from a coincidence:
While Kovacevic swims like a fish in water in New Jersey, the Canadian is looking for solutions to be more solid defensively.
Kovy is rightly recognized as a reliable guy in his zone… And it’s ironic, but the CH could use a responsible defender at the moment.
Kaiden Guhle and David Savard may do a great job defensively, but still: CH is one of the worst defensive clubs in the National League and it shows when we know that the Montreal team has allowed no less than 82 goals to the opponent until now.
Only the Penguins, Sharks and Avalanche do worse in this regard:
Johnathan Koavecic would not be saving the Canadian’s season right now.
That said, when we see that he is one of the best players in the league in terms of differential (+13), that his pairing is one of the best defensively in the entire NHL and that the Canadian wants to improve defensively, we can believe that Kent Hughes made a mistake in letting him go.
It’s part of the game and it’s easier to say afterwards… But hey.
I never thought I would say this one day, but I miss him in Montreal.
In burst
– I like it.
– It’s cute.
– The list makes sense.
– You have to be careful with rumors sometimes:
