On the day of the events, during the late afternoon, a real tragedy took place at a rest area located on the RN 90 in the direction of Huy towards Liège. It was a simple altercation between motorists which ended tragically for several families.
Cédric G criticized Maxime Baugnet for overtaking him on the right. The two motorists parked. An altercation broke out between them.
Cédric G delivered three punches to Maxime Baugnet. The thirty-year-old who was with his partner got back into his car just like Cédric G. who got back on the road. Unfortunately, the 30-year-old then lost consciousness. A motorist called emergency services. The victim died.
A forensic pathologist has been appointed to determine the exact causes of death. Cédric G was placed under arrest on the following Tuesday, September 6 for a period of time.
He appeared free in court. The expert explained that he had been tasked with examining the victim’s brain to determine the cause of death.
The expert explained that the cause of death was hyperacute hemorrhage with several foci. She confirmed the absence of previous vascular lesion. According to this expert, it is unlikely that the motorist would be able to drive with this type of injury. It was therefore very unlikely that she was affected before the scene which occurred at the rest area.
The defendant’s lawyer requested and obtained that expert Philippe Boxho be heard at the hearing after examining the victim’s body. The hearing was postponed until next December to allow the expert to appear.
According to the expert, this hemorrhage alone could have caused the death and it is highly improbable that the motorist would have been able to drive his vehicle if he had been affected before the scene of which the defendant is accused.
