With ten points on the clock, LOSC is one of the most successful teams this season in the Champions League. The statistics prove it and see his men continuing their epic in the spring.
Lille supporters have been enjoying themselves since the start of the season on the European scene, in the Champions League. It all started in their preliminary rounds, with fierce duels against Fenerbahçe SK and Slavia Prague. Qualified, the adventure has been crazy ever since. Defeated for its first appearance in the competition, in Lisbon (2-0), LOSC largely rectified the situation with four consecutive matches without the slightest setback. Better yet, three successes were achieved. Already authors of two exploits against Madrid clubs, including one in Madrid, the Mastiffs neutralized Thiago Motta's Juventus (1-1) before the break then surpassed Bologna FC this Wednesday (1-2).
This latest victory allows them to score ten points, as many as Arsenal (7th) or Bayer Leverkusen (6th). This total is significant. In the eyes of the statistics collected and analyzed by OptaJeandata specialist, LOSC now has 99,7% chance of being part of the first 24 teams, or of being qualified for the round of 16. The percentage remains significant for the Top 8, directly qualifying for the round of 16, with
27%. This last statistic is partly calculated based on the Mastiffs' next opponents (SK Sturm Graz, Liverpool and Feyenoord Rotterdam) and is within the average of potential candidates (non-exhaustive) for the Top 8 (per
@FootballRankings) :
- Bayer Leverkusen: 42.70%
- Sporting CP : 39,02%
- Atlético de Madrid: 34.24%
- Aston Villa : 19,37%
- Manchester City : 15,27%
- Stade Brestois: 14.38%
- Juventus : 7,98%
What is certain is that LOSC will not pay attention to these figures, at least Bruno Genesio: “Already qualified for the sixteenths? We can't know yet because this is the first year we've seen this formula. I know that there are probabilities that have been made, but they are not based on anything concrete at the moment”launched the Lille technician at a press conference at the final whistle, following the northern victory in Bologna (1-2).
