Marie-Amélie Le Fur new president of the National Sports Agency

On the proposal of Gil Avérous, the Minister of Sports, Youth and Community Life, Marie-Amélie Le Fur, the current president of the French Paralympic Committee, was appointed, Thursday, November 28, president of the National Agency for sport (ANS), replacing David Lazarus.

“At a crucial moment for French sport, this appointment honors me as much as it commits me, because the success of the Olympic and Paralympic Games [de 2024] must result in a tangible and lasting legacy”declared the 36-year-old three-time Paralympic champion in a press release.

Ms. Le Fur, a specialist in the long jump, 100 and 200 meters, won nine medals at the Paralympic Games during her career.

This Thursday, the ANS board of directors is also called to vote on the budget for the year 2025, but also to record the accession of Yann Cucherat to the position of general manager of high performance, in place of Claude Onesta.

In fact, the former captain of the French gymnastics team has already held this position since 1is october. In an interview with Parisianpublished on Tuesday November 26, he declared that, taking into account the “financial constraints”the sports federations, to which the agency provides funding, would have, in their “vast majority, by the same means as[en 2024] ». Emphasizing that “the ANS [était] everything except a bank branch »he said he had “chose to lower the means of five of them”. “These federations did not achieve the expected Olympic medals. I will invite them to sit around the table in order to work on the strategic areas that make sense. »

Created in 2019, the ANS is the armed arm of the State for high-level sport and the development of sporting practice.
