Twelve years ago, Nike launched the “N7” program, with the aim of accelerating and promoting access to sport in the “native” communities of the American territory, young people in particular.
The first model to have benefited from an “N7” color in a nod to this program was the KD Zoom IV, and the tradition was continued until the KD 8, in 2015. Of Native American origin by his mother, Kyrie Irving then took over.
Twelve years later, it is therefore only natural that the KD 17, Kevin Durant’s 17th signature shoe, makes its return to the “N7” range with this mainly turquoise blue and black color.
The upper takes on a little Bahamian flag feel with its touches of yellow on four of its ten eyelets. The “N7” logo appears in white on black on the tongue of the left shoe with also a new pattern on the heel. The white midsole is matched with a red stripe, while the outsole appears in translucent blue.
The KD 17 “N7” is released today in the United States for $150. Its arrival on the European market could quickly follow.
Our verdict on the KD 17
Nike stuck to the same method to make the KD 17 a running affair. Kevin Durant’s 17th signature shoe dared to change the design while keeping the same technical guarantees, with a sole corresponding to those who appreciated the previous KDs, a little rigid but still suitable in terms of comfort , and with very good traction.
Beyond the choice of the design of the upper, which some will see as warm, it is above all on its “sneaker” qualities that the pair will focus on to maintain its place among the top of the basket, with also good support for top it off.
