NHL Summary for November 27: Frustration mounts among the Rangers

SUMMARY

The atmosphere continued to grow heavier around the New York Rangers on Wednesday following a 4-3 defeat against the Carolina Hurricanes.

Peter Laviolette’s men have now lost their last four outings, while the team made headlines this week when reports that the team was looking to move and that veterans Chris Kreider and Jacob Trouba would be available created a ripple of shock in those around the team.

With a back injury, Kreider was not in uniform for the Rangers who have now allowed 15 goals in their last three games.

The Rangers’ revival was mainly through their big guns, but Igor Shesterkin looked bad on a few of the four goals scored by the Hurricanes on 30 shots.

On offense, Artemi Panarin, Mika Zibanejad, Alexis Lafreniere and Vincent Trocheck were all shut out while offensive production came from support staff Jonny Brodzinski, Brett Berard and Adam Edstrom.

For Berard, it was his 1is goal in the NHL after playing his first game and collecting his first point Monday night.

For the Hurricanes, Jack Drury and Seth Jarvis scored in the first 40 minutes of play, but Carolina still trailed 3-2 at the start of the third.e.

Jesperi Kotkaniemi tied the game with a wrist shot midway in 3ebefore Jackson Blake scored the winning goal during a power play two minutes later.

Martin Necas collected two assists to extend his point streak to four games (one goal, six assists). for the Hurricanes (16-5-1), who are 5-1-1 in their last seven games. Spencer Martin made 21 saves.

Gustavsson brille, joli but de Kaprizov

Filip Gustavsson made 39 saves, Kirill Kaprizov scored the only goal of the game and the Minnesota Wild defeated the Buffalo Sabers 1-0.

Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen stopped 28 pucks for the Sabres, who saw their winning streak stopped at three.

For Gustavsson, it was a second shutout this season. The Wild improved to 10-1-3 on the road, the best in the NHL.

Kaprizov’s 14th goal of the campaign came 6:55 into the first period on a four-on-one advantage. The Russian completed a nice exchange with Joel Eriksson Ek and Matthew Boldy.
