The Disciplinary Commission of the Professional Football League has imposed a total closed session on the Armand-Cesari stadium as a precautionary measure. This follows the incidents which marred the last home meeting between SC Bastia and Lorient. Consequently, the Bastiais will play in front of empty stands at Furiani for the duration of the investigation of the file. The sanction takes effect this Friday in the Coupe de France with the reception of Nancy.

A few hours after the administrative demotion of the club as a precautionary measure by the DNCG, another heavy decision was pronounced against SC Bastia.
This time it comes from the Disciplinary Commission of the Professional Football League (LFP). Meeting on the evening of Wednesday, November 27, the LFP body imposed a total closed session on the Armand-Cesari stadium as a precautionary measure. All of this, indicates the League, for “use of pyrotechnic devices, throwing objects particularly at an official leading to a temporary interruption of the meeting and oral expressions observed”.
And the authority specifies: “In view of the seriousness of the facts and the risk of recurrence, the Disciplinary Commission of the LFP decides to put the file under investigation and pronounces the measure as a precautionary measure until the final decision is delivered.” Clearly, the sanction could therefore be heavier.
For the moment, this closed session as a precautionary measure therefore remains subject to the submission of the instructor’s report scheduled for December 11. Until this date, Benoît Tavenot’s men will play in front of empty Furiani stands. And this from Nancy’s reception, this Friday, November 29 at 7:30 p.m., for the 8th round of the Coupe de France.
This decision follows the incidents which marred the SCB-Lorient match on November 23, counting for the 14th day of Ligue 2.
Started at 8 p.m., the match was interrupted for about half an hour after the linesman complained to the referee about having received projectiles (lighters, food, drinks) coming from the stands. This happened a few moments after the exclusion of Bastia defender Jocelyn Janneh, author of an uncontrolled tackle on Lorient’s Julien Ponceau in the 32ndth minute of play. The match, which resumed at 9:15 p.m., was then able to come to an end (0-0).
The next day, the Union of Elite Football Referees (SAFE) published a press release in which it stated:unspeakable acts of rare violence“. The union “demanded exemplary sanctions”.
Sporting for its part indicated, via a press release, “that none there is no feeling of insecurity, violence or danger at the Armand-Cesari stadium. At no time was the physical integrity of any actor put in jeopardy.” affirmed the Corsican club.
This Wednesday, this same Disciplinary Commission imposed three matches of firm suspension on Jocelyn Janneh, as well as two on Anthony Roncaglia, the Bastia defensive midfielder having also been excluded against Lorient.
At AC Ajaccio, Johan Cavalli received a four-match suspension. The sports coordinator of the Ajaccian club was excluded last Monday, during the defeat of the Acéistes in Dunkirk (2-0). He will therefore be banned from the sidelines, the referees’ locker room and all official functions for the duration of the sanction.
