David Hubert will soon hold a press conference to preface the reception of FC Porto on Thursday. The Anderlecht coach has just learned that he will probably be without Killian Sardella until 2025, which could represent an… opportunity for T1.
David Hubert is a man who prefers to see the glass half full rather than half empty. Having to do without Killian Sardella for several weeks (read here) is of course a hard blow, but he also sees an opportunity to get another player back into shape: Thomas Foket.
Finally convince the supporters
The summer signing has only started five times this season, including just once in the league, three times in the Europa League and once in the Cup. He has only accumulated 496 minutes of play and yet he has been in good physical shape since the start of the season. This is of course linked to competition from Sardella.
But Foket also did not shine in the matches he played and the right-back was heavily criticized on social media by supporters. However, it must be taken into account that Foket is always a player who improves when he plays one after another.
His former coach Hein Vanhaezebrouck had already spoken about it. Foket needs to be motivated. And now he has the opportunity to be. There is no doubt that the 30-year-old former Red Devil will start as long as Sardella is not available.
Hubert needs two good right-backs
This will do him good. And David Hubert knows that he can thus prepare him for what promises to be a busy season. Since the start of the season, Foket seems slower than in the past. His passage into his thirties has something to do with it, but so does his lack of playing time.
In theory, he should be able to fill Sardella’s role perfectly: he has a good pass, is offensive enough to overwhelm and can also infiltrate. It is now up to the experienced Dilbekois to win back his fans.
