With the season of misery that Canadians are experiencing, some joyful news does a lot of good.
Those who were looking forward to seeing Patrik Laine in action will be over the moon to know that the forward will accompany the Canadian on his three-game trip which begins Wednesday.
This is what Martin St-Louis revealed during his press briefing after the Canadian’s miserable defeat on Tuesday evening.
However, you should not get carried away right away. That doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll be able to play this week.
He is probably making the trip to be able to continue training with his teammates, having started practicing again with a regular jersey on Monday.
It should also be added that even if Laine has started training regularly again, St-Louis explained Monday that he does not expect to see his attacker play a match this week.
Patrik Laine’s last regular season match dates back to December 14. His time in the NHL Player Assistance Program and two major injuries have kept him out of action for nearly a year so far.
During the press conference, St. Louis said he wasn’t sure if Mike Matheson was going to be on the trip. A few minutes later, we got confirmation that he will finally join the team.
The defenseman missed Tuesday night’s game against Utah.
This three-game trip will begin Wednesday in Columbus, before going to New York and Boston over the weekend.
