Even though he was playing his first National Hockey League game in almost a month, Matt Rempe found new ways to get noticed for the wrong reasons.
In his fourth duel of the season with the New York Rangers on Monday evening, the 6’8″ colossus suffered a brain cramp. In the third period, he received an easily avoidable penalty.

St. Louis Blues forward Jake Neighbors had not had the puck for several seconds when he was tackled very high by Rempe in front of both teams’ benches. His victim was stunned, certainly not expecting to be tackled like this. Watch in main video.
Sent out for obstruction, Rempe did not help the Rangers’ cause, who lost 3 to 2. The Blues won 5 to 2 thanks to a goal from Quebecer Zachary Bolduc a few minutes later.
The main person concerned also took out his frustration on Nathan Walker by giving him a legal, but still dangerous, shoulder push.
It’s not easy for Rempe this season, who has mentioned wanting to become a better hockey player. He didn’t play more than 10 minutes in the four games he played. It’s not better in the American League, where he was limited to three points and a differential of -7 in 10 games.
