The new Stade Rennais coach, Jorge Sampaoli, did not appreciate the attitude of Mikayil Faye during the weekend meeting against Lille. The Senegalese defender, who is having a somewhat complicated start in the League, was not spared by Julien Stéphan’s replacement.
This Sunday, during the 12th day of Ligue 1, Stade Rennais made the trip to Lille. A meeting that the Sampaoli team lost by the smallest of scores. From the 18th minute of play, Ghanaian defender Alidu Seidu had to leave his partners after an injury. The former Sevilla coach immediately launched Mikayil Faye, who took a while to enter the pitch.

The young Senegalese defender took a while to put on his socks to enter the field. An attitude which did not please the Argentinian technician, who severely criticized him at the end of the meeting. “My anger over Faye’s return to school? It’s not normal for a player to take so long to put on his socks.”declared Sampaoli to the media.
Mikayil Faye, who plays supporting roles in Rennes, will have to present another face to a very demanding coach like Sampaoli. It remains to be seen what role he will have under Sampaoli after this complicated match in Lille.
