Booked in the 24th minute of France-Belgium, Adrien Rabiot is suspended for the quarter-final of the Blues against Portugal. But according to him, the yellow card was not deserved.

It was in the 24th minute of France-Belgium at Euro 2024: for rough contact with the left foot on Jérémy Doku, Adrien Rabiot received a yellow card. Because he had already received a warning in the previous match, against Poland, the French midfielder is automatically suspended for the quarter-final against Portugal this Friday, July 5 at 9 p.m.

“The yellow card? I’m disappointed, I’m disgusted,” reacted Adrien Rabiot at a press conference.

“I don’t feel like it was deserved. I think the referee had a little absence for a moment. That’s how it is, he’s the one who decides,” added the Juventus player, clearly not very fond of the refereeing of the Swede Glenn Nyberg.

Camavinga instead?

“I’m disgusted, but I’m confident for the future. There are people on the bench, guys waiting to play. I hope to find my place and the field in the semi-final. I’ll be fully behind the team,” concluded Adrien Rabiot.

Didier Deschamps has several replacement solutions to compensate for this suspension. The most logical choice seems to be Eduardo Camavinga, left-footed like Adrien Rabiot. But the coach can also call on Youssouf Fofana and Warren Zaire-Emery, in the event of maintaining the system with three central midfielders. Unless a return to the pre-tournament configuration with Antoine Griezmann in a more withdrawn role is decided.
