Ludovic and Mathieu de Granhota, a canoeing and kayaking company, carry out their nautical activity on several sites along the water between the Garonne and Ariège. While ensuring that the tranquility of local residents is respected and the environment of the sites crossed is protected, the activities set up offer the opportunity to enjoy the calm and freshness of the two rivers during the summer season. And when the weather permits, spring and autumn are also ideal for these discovery walks supervised by approved instructors. Grépiac being one of these places, the Town Hall grants them free access to the pier and the river, thus authorizing them to offer their services to locals, school groups, leisure centers and businesses.

As every year, to thank the municipality for this kind collaboration, an outing is kindly organized for the benefit of the primary school of the commune. It is therefore on a beautiful sunny day, at the end of the school year, that 31 CM1 and CM2 students gathered in the morning at the pier, accompanied by two teachers and five parents of students.

Initiation au kayak et promenade instructive

Léo, Oumaima and Ludovic, the day’s animators, were waiting for our budding kayakers for an activity full of great surprises. On the program, an introduction to kayaking, discovery of the aquatic ecosystem and fun activities (blindfolded navigation, stand-up paddling, etc.) were planned, enhanced by a few passages on a small rapid to test the safety position, and jumps into the water to experience unforgettable moments of adventure.

At noon, a picnic on the banks of the Ariège allowed the participants to recover and let off steam before resuming navigation. The activity ended around 3 p.m. at the Granhota base in Clermont-le-Fort.

The facilitators appreciated the exemplary behavior of the children, making the activity smooth and enjoyable, and thanked the chaperones, teachers and parents for their kind contribution.

Young and old alike all returned tired, delighted to have experienced a moment outside of time and off the beaten track that they will not soon forget.
