Portugal dominated Slovenia on Monday in the round of 16 of Euro 2024. A qualification acquired after extra time and a penalty shootout (0-0, 3 pens to 0) and which will send Cristiano Ronaldo’s teammates on the road to the French team, Friday, in the quarter-finals.

Fresher Blues? Having qualified in pain against Belgium (1-0) for the quarter-finals of Euro 2024, the players of the French team were then able to enjoy the match between Portugal and Slovenia. After 120 minutes of play and extra time, the Portuguese won on penalties (0-0, 3 tab to 0) and will face the Blues in the next round.

Ronaldo misses penalty

Dominant throughout the match, the Portuguese had several big chances but lacked success against an imperial Jan Oblak. Looking for his first goal in the tournament played in Germany, Cristiano Ronaldo multiplied his attempts, in play and on free kicks but was thwarted each time.

Worse for the Al-Nassr star, after a nice rush from Diogo Jota, he was awarded a penalty during extra time. But, once again, Jan Oblak intervened to prevent CR7 from becoming the oldest scorer of the Euro. Fortunately, the Portuguese goalkeeper Diogo Costa stopped the first three penalties from the Slovenians to send his team on the road to Les Bleus. For France, the path of “death” continues during this Euro.
