Signing with the Canadiens!
Quebecer Alex Barré-Boulet has agreed to terms on a one-year, one-way contract valued at $775,000.
Barré-Boulet, who has 68 games of big league experience, shuttled between the NHL and the American League last season:
It looks a lot like the signing of Lias Andersson last summer.
Barré-Boulet – like Andersson – is a small forward who stands out because of his offensive skills.
The only difference I see here? Barré-Boulet signed a one-way contract, unlike Andersson.
Let’s remember that Barré-Boulet has been of interest to the CH for several years. I can’t wait to see if he’ll be able to make a place at camp… Because he’ll have to go through waivers in October if he doesn’t make the club.
If he ever has to play in Laval, the Rocket will have the luxury of counting on a veteran from Quebec who knows the league and who is one of the most productive players in the AHL in recent years.
This is consistent with comments from former head coach Jean-François Houle, who recently said he wanted to see the Canadiens help their farm club by adding talented players to give them a chance to win the Calder Cup.
In Colorado, people were wondering what was going to happen with the Jonathan Drouin case.
It’s now official: the former CH player is staying with the Avalanche.
We are talking about a one-season contract:
Drouin signed a one-year contract last summer, a deal that paid him $825,000 during the 23-24 season.
He had 56 points (19 goals) in 79 games alongside his friend Nathan MacKinnon and proved he deserves a new deal.
That said, we are talking about a nice salary increase in his case because his next contract is worth $2.5 million for the next campaign.
We have to be happy for him because he has found his love for the game again after some difficult years in Montreal.
Now it’s up to him to prove that he deserves to sign a long-term contract with a team next summer.
