By placing third in the first of the two Portland E-Prixes on Saturday evening, then by taking pole position yesterday, Jean-Eric Vergne (DS Penske) remains sixth in the provisional ranking.

Located in Oregon in the north-east of the United States, the Portland road circuit hosts a round of the IndyCar championship and hosted Formula E for the second time last weekend.

On this track, which is too fast for electric competition, the two E-Prixes managed to save energy, with the drivers preferring to remain secluded in the peloton rather than racing in the lead.

The DS Penske team was racing on home soil and Vergne honoured his boss Jay Penske, son of the legendary Roger Penske, by taking third place on the podium in the first round on Saturday behind Antonio Félix da Costa (Porsche) and Robin Frijns (Envision).

JEV recordman of pole positions in FE

In the second E-Prix the next day, JEV started from pole position, becoming the only record holder of his kind, but he could do no better than fifth in a race transformed into a sprint after a late neutralization, again behind da Costa and Mitch Evans (Jaguar) as well as Pascal Wehrlein (Porsche), who came back to 12 points behind championship leader Nick Cassidy (Jaguar), returning empty-handed from Portland after a collision then a trip to the pits.

While Vergne is in sixth place in the provisional standings with little hope of a final podium, his DS Penske team is in third place in the hierarchy of teams behind Jaguar and Porsche. The last FE meeting will take place in three weeks in London with a double E-Prix to close this tenth season while waiting for the Gen3 EVO in 2025.
