Can 2025: The probable hats for the qualifying draw – Lequotidien

The draw for the qualifiers for Can 2025 will be made this July 4. Afrik-Foot reveals the likely hats that will be used.

The draw for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers will take place this Thursday, July 4 at 12:30 GMT, in Johannesburg, South Africa. While CAF has not yet revealed anything about the format, we can already make a projection on the draw pots. There should be four of them, composed of 12 teams each, which will be distributed according to their rank in the latest Fifa ranking. There will therefore be 12 qualifying groups each composed of 4 teams, and the first two will qualify for the CAN, the final phase of which will take place in Morocco from December 21, 2025 to January 18, 2026.

Burkina Faso, the big loser?
The most formidable teams like the Ivory Coast, reigning African champion, Nigeria, Senegal, Morocco and Algeria will unsurprisingly be in pot 1. Burkina Faso, moved to pot 2 following the latest Fifa ranking, is the big loser, unlike Ghana, the big winner as it moved from pot 2 to pot 1.
That said, this second pot contains several other teams that are capable of competing with those in pot 1: Cape Verde, Guinea, Gabon and Equatorial Guinea. Drawing opponents of this kind will clearly not be a gift for the favorites either.
