NHL: Agreement between Alexandre Carrier and the Predators before the opening of the free agency market

Quebec defender Alexandre Carrier would ultimately not test the autonomy market.

According to our contributor Pierre LeBrun, Carrier reached an agreement with the Nashville Predators a little less than 24 hours before he could secure his free agent status.

The financial details of the agreement are currently unknown.

Aged 27, Carrier has totaled 217 regular season games with the Preds, who selected him 115th overall in the 2015 draft.

He appeared in all six of their playoff games this spring, recording one goal and two assists.

The trade sending veteran left-handed guard Ryan McDonagh to the Tampa Bay Lightning earlier this week caused general manager Barry Trotz to change his mind.

Originally, several reporters assigned to cover the team reported that Carrier would not be returning to Nashville.

Four years and $24 million for Durzi in Utah

The Utah team continued to build a top-four defensive squad heading into its first season in Salt Lake City, signing Sean Durzi to a new four-year contract.

Durzi, who joined the Los Angeles Kings last summer, will receive an annual salary of $6 million over the next four campaigns.

His mid-term contract comes a day after general manager Bill Armstrong acquired Mikhail Sergachev from the Tampa Bay Lightning and John Marino from the New Jersey Devils.

Durzi, a 25-year-old right-hander, was the 52nd player chosen overall in the 2018 draft by the Toronto Maple Leafs.

In his first campaign with the now defunct Arizona Coyotes, the Ontarian scored 9 goals and added 32 assists for a total of 41 points in 76 games.

Steel stays in Texas

Despite not receiving a qualifying offer from the Dallas Stars, it appears that forward Sam Steel will remain with the Texas team. According to Frank Seravalli of DailyFaceoffthe 2016 first-round pick would agree to a one-season pact worth $1.2 million.

Last season, Steel scored nine goals and added 15 assists to his tally in 77 games. He also played with the Anaheim Ducks and the Minnesota Wild.

One year of contract for Lundestrom

The Anaheim Ducks have signed forward Isac Lundestrom to a one-year, $1.5 million contract.

Lundestrom, a 24-year-old Swede, was selected 23rd overall in the 2018 amateur draft by the Ducks.

In 258 games in the Bettman circuit, Lundestrom totals 69 points (31-38).
