FC Nantes: Big concern for Abline!

FC Nantes has completed the final transfer of Matthis Abline for a check for 10 million euros. But on the sidelines of this transfer, a wave of worry has not yet been dissipated…

FC Nantes has decided to bring out the big guns for Matthis Abline. After an initial offer of 8 million euros, the Canaries have offered 10 million euros and bonuses. According to L’Equipe and Ouest-France, Rennes has accepted Nantes’ offer! Matthis Abline will join Nantes and become the club’s biggest transfer. But on the sidelines of this hot file, a priority for Nantes recruitment, questions are growing.

A default choice?

At the beginning of June, several media outlets mentioned Matthis Abline’s desire not to continue at FC Nantes. However, Antoine Kombouaré insisted that the Canaries take a position on the matter and agree to put up to 10 million euros on the table! Enough to fuel concerns, as indicated by the transfer informant of “X”, Mohamed Toubache-Ter: “No information on Abline but given the information that has just come out… I hope for his sake that it is not a transfer by default because even Nantes has heard of his desire not to return”.

A shooting star ?

At 21 years old, Matthis Abline has not shown stability since the start of his career. Wandered between loans and four different clubs in four seasons, the French striker has never managed to find a balance. However, it only took 6 months at the top to convince Nantes to invest a record amount. 6 months earlier, Nantes did not plan to exercise the purchase option for 6 million euros and today, the managers are breaking the record for the largest transfer. Beyond the concerns linked to the real motivations of Matthis Abline to stay in Nantes, it is the fear of having caught a shooting star which surrounds this transfer.
