The third Grand Slam of the season, the 2024 edition of Wimbledon will be held from Monday until July 14, the date of the men’s final, on the London grass.
Dates
The 2024 edition of Wimbledon will be held from this Monday July 1 to Sunday July 14, date of the men’s final, on the grass courts of the All England Lawn Tennis Club.
Favorites
The big unknown is Novak Djokovic’s health. The Serbian, a seven-time winner on the London grass, underwent surgery on his right knee after withdrawing before his quarter-final at Roland Garros. It remains to be seen whether he will be in full possession of his abilities to defend his chances and win an 8th crown. Defending champion Carlos Alcaraz will also be one of the big favourites, as will Italian world number 1 Jannik Sinner, winner of his first grass-court title in Halle.
In the women’s category, world No. 1 Iga Swiatek, a four-time Roland-Garros winner, is among the favorites, even if grass is not her favorite surface. Aryna Sabalenka, a semi-finalist last year and winner of the Australian Open in January, is also among the contenders. Like Ons Jabeur, who is very comfortable on grass and a finalist in 2022 and 2023.
French in the running
In total, there will be 12 French players in the main draw of this 2024 edition of Wimbledon with Ugo Humbert, Adrian Mannarino, Arthur Fils, Gaël Monfils, Arthur Rinderknech, Arthur Cazaux, Corentin Moutet, Constant Lestienne, Hugo Gaston, Maxime Janvier, Lucas Pouille and Quentin Halys. Among the women, there will be five French players on the English turf with Caroline Garcia, Clara Burel, Diane Parry, Océane Dodin, Varvara Gracheva.
