MotoGP, Dutch Grand Prix: Francesco Bagnaia wins easily and overtakes Jorge Martin in the championship

When he rides like that, he’s just too strong. Italian Francesco Bagnaia dominated the Dutch Grand Prix from start to finish on Sunday at Assen to claim his third consecutive victory in the premier class. The Ducati Corse rider thus moved back to eight points behind world championship leader Jorge Martin (Pramac-Ducati). The Spaniard (2nd) was the only one able to keep up with the race winner, but was never able to get close to him. Enea Bastianini (Ducati Corse), who made a superb comeback from 10th on the grid, completed the podium.

The second rider of the official Ducati team was the fastest of a group of five riders who fought for third position throughout the race. Marc Marquez (4th) tried a surprising strategy, letting his rivals pass with certainly the idea of overtaking in the final bend in the lead, without success. A tactic that almost benefited Maverick Vinales (5th), but who lost everything by making a mistake on the last lap of the race.

The two French people on the grid were much more discreet. Fabio Quartararo did not make a successful start and had to settle for a twelfth position, just ahead of Johann Zarco, best Honda with his thirteenth position. Alex Rins (Yamaha), Marco Bezzechi (VR46-Ducati), Joan Mir (Honda-Repsol) and Pedro Acosta (GasGas-Tech3) crashed and did not finish the race.
