Real Madrid announced on Friday the departure of their striker Joselu, who will join the Qatari club Al-Gharafa.

“Real Madrid, after exercising its option to acquire the rights to the player Joselu Mato from RCD Espanyol, has reached an agreement with Al-Gharafa SC for the transfer of our player,” said the European champion in a press release.

“Joselu arrived at the Real Madrid training center in 2010 at the age of 20 and joined the reserve team, where he played 2 seasons and participated in promotion to the second division in the 2011-2012 season », Adds the club from the Spanish capital.

During the 2023-2024 season, Joselu played 49 matches, scored 18 goals and won three titles: 1 Champions League, 1 League and 1 Spanish Super Cup.

With his two goals in the semi-final second leg of the Champions League against Bayern Munich, Joselu played a “very important role in reaching the final at Wembley and winning the 15th European Cup”, underlines Real Madrid, which thanks the 34-year-old for his “professionalism”.
