MLS: Laurent Ciman, Josef Martinez and Lassi Lappalainen leave the CFM

MONTREAL – CF Montreal will certainly show a different face next season.

By press release Thursday, the Montreal MLS club announced that assistant coach Laurent Ciman will not be returning and that he is not exercising the contract options of Josef Martinez and Lassi Lappalainen.

Gabriele Corbo, Grayson Doody, Raheem Edwards, Ilias Iliadis, Matteo Schiavoni, Róbert Thorkelsson and Rida Zouhir also saw the option of their contracts not exercised by the team.

The Montreal eleven, however, exercised the contract options of Nathan Saliba and Jules-Anthony Vilsaint for the 2025 season. They are added to the 16 other players under contract for the next campaign. They are goalkeepers Sébastian Breza and Jonathan Sirois, defenders Fernando Álvarez, Dawid Bugaj, George Campbell, Jahkeele Marshall-Rutty, Tom Pearce and Joel Waterman, midfielders Alessandro Biello, Caden Clark, Bryce Duke, Dominic Iankov and Samuel Piette, as well as attackers Matías Cóccaro, Mahala Opoku and Sunusi Ibrahim.

The club also indicated that it was still in negotiations with Ousman Jabang. The contracts of midfielder Victor Wanyama and goalkeeper Logan Ketterer end in 2024, as does the loan of defender Joaquín Sosa.

Changes to coaching staff

In addition to Ciman, CF Montreal also announced other departures from the first team coaching staff on Thursday.

Goalkeeper coach Romuald Peiser, head of goalkeeper development method Luca Bucci, as well as physical trainer Barthélémy Delecroix will not be back in 2025.
