A perfect preliminary round, this is the result of the Swiss at the European Championships in Lohja. After a raclette success against Estonia 6-5, CC Aarau will challenge Italy in the semi-final.
For this last match of the round robin, the Swiss faced a greater challenge than expected. The Estonians, who have rarely been so strong, fought until the 10th end with the advantage of the last stone. Fortunately for Silvana Tirinzoni and her teammates, their stone was a few millimeters closer to the center than that of the Estonians.
This victory allows CC Aarau to extend its series of consecutive victories at the European Championships to 20. Last year in Aberdeen, Tirinzoni, Selina Witschonke, Carole Howald and Alina Pätz won their eleven matches to pocket their first continental title.
The semi-finals are scheduled for Thursday evening from 6 p.m. on RTS 2. The last two duels between Switzerland and Italy were hotly contested and the Swiss had the upper hand each time. In the final of the last European Championships in Aberdeen, they won 6-5 and in the preliminary round in Lohja 7-6.
