This is news that will delight the Saint-Etienne supporters. A real strong man in the Greens’ comeback, the midfielder’s contract ended at the end of the season. For a long time, uncertainty hung over whether or not Aïmen Moueffek would extend his contract. Following a new discussion on the subject, the two parties reportedly agreed, according to journalist Santi Aouana, on a contract until 2028 + an optional year.

Aïmen Moueffek, a man with a future

Indeed, the new owners of AS Saint-Étienne would bet big on him, and would consider him “a key element in the new project”. With a full season, Aïmen Moueffek will have been one of the great architects of the rise in the elite of the Greens. Last April, following the success against Caen, the latter declared: “My future? Look at the stadium, we’re only in Ligue 2. A player, even more so when he’s trained here, wants to play in Ligue 1. Everyone knows that I want to stay, we’ll see how it goes.” The message seems to have been heard by the new Saint-Etienne management.

A big fan of Saint-Étienne, I still thrill every time I talk about the 2013 Coupe de la Ligue title. Remember… ASSE-RENNES final, we play the eighteenth minute. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, receives the ball on the left, crosses with the outside of his foot, and finds Brandao who puts the ball in the back of the net with the left. 1-0 for the Greens, the score remains that way. Enough for me to remember it like it was yesterday.
