Nikita Kucherov doesn’t care about the trophy ceremony

On February 2, 2024, a few months ago, I wrote an article on the site saying that Nikita Kucherov didn’t care at all about the all-star event.

My title: “Nikita Kucherov doesn’t give a f*ck about the all-star event.”

For the purposes of my text tonight, I could have easily used the same title and simply changed the “All-Star Event” to “Award Night”. That’s what I did, but using a little less vulgarity. After all, there are children reading us…

My point remains the same: Kucherov really doesn’t want to be where he is.

Tonight he seemed completely disinterested and the fact that the host had grown a beard and adopted a Russian accent didn’t help.

You can say anything about the Russian, but at least he’s not a hypocrite.

The evening was a total waste… “Forced smiles and polite laughter”, as Simon-Olivier Lorange said, except for Kucherov…

As for Matt Friend, I hope he doesn’t ignore the comments about him on social media too much.

He’s definitely not Kevin Hart. #RoastTomBrady

Overall, The evening may have been a disaster, but I’m sure Nathan MacKinnon had nothing to complain about.

He is the big winner of this ceremony, because unlike Kucherov, he did not leave empty-handed. He won the Hart Trophy given to the most valuable player to his team and the Ted Lindsay, given to the best player according to his peers.

Here are the other winners:

  • Connor Hellebuyck – Vézina
  • Connor Bedard – Calder
  • Connor Quinn Hughes – Norris

Regarding the Norris Trophy, the trophy awarded to the best defender, Mike Matheson was completely ignored. Despite a 62-point season, he did not receive a vote.

Not even a fifth… At least he got two third place votes for the All-Star team.
