Lyonnais Sébastien Gros (photo) starts the Vaudreuil Golf Challenge strong with a first round of 65, one shot more than the Spanish leader Quim Vidal (-8). Three Frenchmen are in the top 20, including local Pierre Pineau.

Another great performance from Sebastian Gros ! The 34-year-old from Lyon hits a superb 65 (-7) to stick to one shot behind the Spanish leader Quim Vidalauthor of a 64 card. After his 65 at Blot Open the Brittany Last week and his 64 at the Challenge de España, it was another great day for the Rhone native.

All that remains is to reproduce this type of result to finally enter a top 30 and launch its season, after only four tournaments already played in the second European division. A presence this weekend would already be a big sigh of relief since Gros has never made the cut in six participations in the Vaudreuil Golf Challenge !

Two Spaniards in the top 5

At 24, the Spaniard Quim Vidal takes the lead in the tournament with a nice -8. Two series of birdies (four from 12 to 15 and three from 6 to 8) notably allow the second in the order of merit ofAlps Tour 2023 to make the best start of his career on the Challenge Tour.

Another Spaniard is in the top 10, but this one was more expected, since Borja Virto finished the Blot Open de Bretagne with a score of -8 on Sunday, well above all the other participants present at Pléneuf-Val-André ! Another great day for the 33-year-old double winner of the Challenge Tour.

Three Blues in the top 20

Three French people are in the top 20. We will mainly note the presence of the member of Vaudreui, Pierre Pineauwhich flirts with the top 20 of the Road to Mallorca and who ranks fourteenth, just behind Clement Berardo (9e).

Best Frenchman last weekend, Benjamin Hebert is 22nd, just like the surprising amateur Ugo Malcor20 years old. A little disappointment for Alexander Levy which ends in par (58th). A delicate day which did not prevent the number 3 of the Road from smiling when signing his first birdie of the day.

John Parry takes the blow

In the duel for first place in the Road to Mallorca, the Dane Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen signed a solid 68, better than the Englishman John Parry who is satisfied with the par in the wake of his title in Brittany. But we’re only halfway through the season…and there are three days of competition left this week!
