In recent months, Domenico Tedesco has given a chance to many young talents among the Red Devils. However, this does not make all dual nationals want to choose to represent Belgium.
Many examples
Bilal El Khannouss and Zakaria El Ouadhi, for example, chose to play for Morocco, even if the latter could still change its mind. Mile Svilar and Andreas Pereira would also have had a place with the Devils, but they opted for Serbia and Brazil.
A player like Konstantinos Karetsas could also slip through Belgium’s fingers. Greece are currently pushing for the 17-year-old attacking midfielder to represent them at international level.
Delorge has several options
In an interview with Nieuwsblad, Mathias Delorge also revealed that he might not represent Belgium in the future. Indeed, his mother has Spanish and German roots.
“Am I open to that? Why not? I don’t think they know me in Germany and Spain though. My Spanish family loves football. They would love for me to wear the La Roja jersey.”
The Imp concluded by saying that he was also proud to be Belgian and that as long as he plays in the Jupiler Pro League, Germany and Spain will not be interested in him.
