A teacher at the Oreye municipal school for almost fifteen years, “Rakam”, the nickname given to him when he was in secondary school, was a pillar among his colleagues. “He was my buddy. My class is next to hiscomments Vincent Vigil Bajo, also captain of Geer. He was amazing with the kids. François always had a good joke to tell. For the past week, I’ve had trouble getting into the teachers’ room.”
“An example”
A few years ago, François Raemaekers decided to take control of himself by losing many kilos. “He was an example for many. His times over 10km were phenomenal. Life is cruel but François would not like to see his friends in this state” continues Vincent Vigil Bajo. “We had been around each other almost every day for nine years. He was much more than just a colleaguesays Marco Derenne. He was a pillar for everyone. He always had a laugh, whether in his work or in the world of football. It’s always the best who leave first, life is so unfair. We don’t understand how this happened to him. The day before, he went for another half marathon in 1h23. He was an accomplished sportsman who had a very healthy lifestyle. And then, François was someone who never gave up. What do I remember from him? He simply made others smile.”
President of Fantasy Oreye
The Orétois was also keen on futsal. Fifteen years ago, he created, with a group of friends, the Fantasy Oreye club. He held the role of president. “We are committed to finishing the season without replacing him in order to pay tribute to him because we all believe that is what he would have wanted, although the goals for this season and the matches to come now seem anecdotal.” comments the club. “He was the last creator still present. He played regularly and took care of everything there. He gave without counting“, comments Bruno Philippe.
Affiliated with the Hannut athletics club (FCHA) for two years, François Raemaekers, who is none other than Cédric’s cousin, quickly became an important member. He was due to take part in his fourth marathon on December 1st in Valencia. “He was my best friend, my godcomments his dad, Yvan. I He hoped to go under 3 hours during his next marathon. François was the kindest of men, always ready to help anyone. To give you an example, in Geer in football, he was the 12th wheel of the carriage but he never flinched. He was always there to support his friends. Life is unfair…”
